Bertinoro Workshop on Uncertain Graph Drawing
Bertinoro Workshop on Uncertain Graph Drawing
July 19-24, 2025
Bertinoro (Forlì-Cesena), Italy
In today’s data-driven world, graph and geometric data stand out as two particularly important types of data. In the area of graph drawing, these two forms of data intersect—either explicitly, by realizing geometric graphs through a drawing, or implicitly, as the act of drawing abstract graphs corresponds to embed them within a geometric domain. Data uncertainty is an issue that is omnipresent and must be dealt with; the area of uncertain computational geometry studies the influence of uncertainty on geometric algorithms.
In this seminar, we aim to investigate how data uncertainty influences graph drawing algorithms, and to what extent existing insights from uncertain computational geometry are applicable to graph drawing. Since geometric proximity structures appear frequently both in graph drawing and uncertain computational geometry, and especially play a prominent role in the small amount of existing literature that combines the fields, we believe the seminar will benefit from making it an explicit theme and also inviting participants with specialised knowledge.
